I am a qualified mathematics teacher with an enhanced CRB disclosure, and have experience teaching learners of all ages and abilities in both state and independent schools. I hold a BSc (Hons) Degree in Mathematics, a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (Secondary Mathematics), Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and an MBA qualification in Strategic Business Management. I work as Associate Lecturer in Mathematics for the Open University and also as a GCSE examiner/ marker for a main examination board.
My career hasn't always been traditional teaching; I've spent a large proportion of my working life in the aviation and manufacturing sectors as a business analyst. Before moving into education, I was often told that I was good at reducing complicated business information into simple terms that could be easily understood by all members of the organisation, and frequently found myself running training programmes for my colleagues. From here, it seemed a natural step to undertake a postgraduate qualification in mathematics education and qualify as a teacher - which I did in 2008 and have been teaching formally since then.
